The fashion industry has a significant environmental footprint, making it a major contributor to climate change. At Bo Carter we recognize the gravity of this issue and place great importance on addressing it. We prioritize sustainability in every aspect of our operation, including our supply chains and office practices.
The fashion industry mirrors the food industry in terms of environmental impact. Harmful chemicals and pesticides are extensively utilized, causing detrimental effects on the environment. We are dedicated to incorporating organic and environmentally friendly practices throughout our supply chain, striving to use natural fibers with minimal chemical usage as much as possible.

Responsible Sourcing
In our design process, we prioritize the careful selection of materials, taking into account the entire supply chain, durability, and any fabric constraints from the very beginning of garment design.
We ensure that 100% of the materials used are responsibly sourced, ensuring that each fabric meets the highest standards for the well-being of both people and the planet. Our commitment lies in making the most optimal choices throughout the sourcing process, guaranteeing sustainable and ethical practices.
Organic Cotton
We take great pride in our organic cotton, which is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), and it is sourced from a trusted company in Wales that we have fostered a strong relationship with over the years. For our crosweave cotton, it is meticulously handcrafted in India by Genesh and his family. These cotton batches are produced in small quantities ranging from 100 to 300 meters. The entire process is artisanal and hands-on, involving hand-dyeing of yarns, weaving using small powerlooms or handlooms, and even hand printing.

Furthermore, our organic sweatshirt also originates from the same reputable supplier in Wales, who obtains their cotton from the Aegean region of Turkey, near İzmir. They have established partnerships with contracted farmers to ensure a consistent and high-quality cotton supply. The spinning house is located in Denizli. Depending on factors such as quality and lead times, different knitting and dyeing houses in Denizli, İzmir, or İstanbul may be utilized. All these facilities are certified to meet the requirements for obtaining the GOTS certificate for the final fabric.
To guarantee compliance, all facilities involved in the production process, including farms, spinning houses, knitting houses, and even warehouses where the finished fabrics are inspected and packaged, bear the responsibility mandated by the certification. Non-profit certification organizations such as ICEA or Control Union oversee and conduct the certification process, ensuring adherence to the strict standards set by GOTS.
Roll End Fabric
Across our collections we prioritize sustainability and uniqueness by curating a collection of roll ends fabrics sourced from a local supplier. These roll ends consist of a mixture of fabrics, including rare dead stock from renowned designers. By offering these roll ends, we not only contribute to reducing textile waste but also provide our customers with the chance to obtain one-of-a-kind designs in our garments.

Buttons
At Bo Carter, we are committed to using sustainable and eco-friendly materials in every aspect of our garments, including buttons. That's why we've chosen to use Corozo buttons and recycled buttons as part of our commitment to reducing plastic waste and promoting ethical fashion.
Our Corozo buttons are made from the Tagua palm tree, a remarkable natural alternative to plastic. These buttons are not only eco-friendly but also ethical and sustainable. Harvested from renewable sources, Tagua palm trees provide a durable and natural material for our buttons. By opting for Corozo buttons, we contribute to the preservation of the environment and support local communities that rely on the sustainable harvesting of Tagua palm trees.
In addition to Corozo buttons, we also utilize recycled buttons in our designs. These buttons are sourced from industry waste, diverting materials from the landfill and giving them a new life. By incorporating recycled buttons, we reduce the demand for new plastic production and contribute to a circular fashion economy.
Both Corozo and recycled buttons exemplify our commitment to creating garments that are not only stylish but also eco-friendly, ethical, and sustainable. We believe in the power of small choices, and by opting for these button alternatives, we make a positive impact on the environment and support a more conscious fashion industry.
Elastic
We are continuously striving to improve the sustainability of our garments, which includes re-evaluating our elastic suppliers. We recognize that our current elastic falls short in terms of sustainability. Despite our dedication to organic materials, the durability of current options doesn't currently meet our requirements.
Therefore, we are actively seeking a new supplier for our elastic to ensure that it aligns with our commitment to eco-friendly and ethical practices. By exploring sustainable alternatives, we aim to enhance the environmental impact of our garments and provide our customers with more durable and eco-conscious options.
Stay tuned as we work diligently to source eco-conscious elastic that not only meets but exceeds our high standards of sustainability and durability. Our ongoing research and development efforts reflect our unwavering commitment to providing you with clothing that is both environmentally friendly and long-lasting.
Thread
Currently, we utilize polycotton threads, but we are actively exploring the transition to 100% organic cotton threads.
Through ongoing research and rigorous testing, we are seeking alternatives that align with our commitment to eco-friendly and ethical practices. Our goal is to ensure that every aspect of our garments, including the threads, reflects our dedication to sustainability.
By considering the shift to organic cotton threads, we aim to reduce our environmental impact and provide our customers with products that are in harmony with nature. We appreciate your support as we work diligently to make this positive change.
Stay updated with our progress as we continue to prioritize sustainability in our thread choices for a more responsible and eco-conscious approach to garment production.
Care Labels
Our care labels are produced in-house using recycled ribbon, exemplifying our commitment to eco-conscious practices.
To further minimize waste, we utilize our cutting-edge thermal printer, which allows us to efficiently print the labels as needed. This approach helps us reduce excess printing and promotes a more sustainable production process.
Additionally, each care label is uniquely numbered to ensure that we maintain full control over our production quantities. With limited runs of 100 garments for organic materials and 30 garments for roll ends, we prioritize quality over quantity, allowing us to create thoughtfully designed pieces that stand out from the crowd.
By incorporating these practices, we strive to provide our customers with garments that not only reflect our commitment to sustainability but also offer a personal touch. Experience the difference of consciously made clothing with Bo Carter, where every care label tells a story of care for the planet and attention to detail.
